What is STEM Education?

The Ministry of Education Malaysia initiated the STEM education program as part of the Malaysia Education Blueprint 2013-2025. This initiative aims to equip students with the skills needed to face challenges in science and technology while ensuring the country produces enough qualified STEM graduates. STEM uses an integrated approach to teach Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics emphasizing real-world applications. 
Kementerian Pendidikan Malaysia telah memulakan program Pendidikan STEM sebagai sebahagian daripada Pelan Pembangunan Pendidikan Malaysia 2013-2025. Inisiatif ini bertujuan untuk melengkapkan murid dengan kemahiran yang diperlukan bagi menghadapi cabaran dalam bidang sains dan teknologi serta memastikan negara melahirkan graduan STEM yang berkualiti. Pendidikan STEM menggunakan pendekatan bersepadu untuk mengajar Sains, Teknologi, Kejuruteraan dan Matematik dengan memberi penekanan kepada aplikasi dunia sebenar.

PHASE #1 : Imagine

In this phase, students explore creative ways to solve problems by thinking outside the box and brainstorming solutions.
Dalam fasa ini, murid akan meneroka cara kreatif untuk menyelesaikan masalah dengan berfikir di luar kebiasaan (kotak pemikiran) dan mencetuskan idea baharu.

PHASE #2 : Build

Students are introduced to key tools and systems and then develop their ideas with an engineering mindset, turning concepts into reality.
Murid akan diperkenalkan alatan dan sistem utama untuk menghasilkan idea mereka dengan pemikiran kejuruteraan untuk merealisasikan konsep ke realiti.

PHASE #3 : Have Fun

Here, students experiment with their designs, test their ideas and enjoy the process. They also learn from their outcomes and improves their projects further.
Di sini, murid akan mengkaji reka bentuk idea mereka, menguji reka bentuk idea tersebut dan melalui prosesnya. Mereka juga boleh belajar daripada hasil kerja mereka dan memperbaiki projek mereka menjadi lebih baik.

PHASE #4 : Be Creative

This phase helps students stay innovative, challenge conventional methods and create fresh ideas while following ethical guidelines and project rules.
Fasa ini membantu murid menjadi lebih inovatif, mencabar kaedah konvensional dan mencipta idea baharu sambil mematuhi panduan etika dan peraturan projek.

PHASE #5 : Tell

Finally, students share their journey, explaining their problem-solving process and steps taken. This sharing contributes to greater collective learning and knowledge growth.
Akhirnya, murid berkongsi pengalaman mereka, menerangkan proses penyelesaian masalah dan langkah yang diambil. Perkongsian ini menyumbang kepada pembelajaran kolektif dan peningkatan ilmu secara keseluruhan.
